Colegio San Pedro

Probigua-America’s mission is to give scholarships to students with little or no means to pay for their schooling. Our support of the school Colegio San Pedro (in San Pedro Yepocapa) ensures that the students that receive scholarships to study also receive a high-quality education.

School

Colegio San Pedro has been funded by investments made from Probigua-Suiza (in Switzerland) and is run by Probigua (in Guatemala) since 2009. Right now, classes have had to be modified because of COVID-19, but if everything returns to normal for the school year 2022, Colegio San Pedro will offer classes from Kindergarten until graduation. Mr. Rigoberto Zamora is the Director of the school and his brother, Mr. Pedro Zamora, is the principal. Because Probigua (Guatemala) is in charge of the administration, we have access to the students’ daily activities and progress. So, if you decide to sponsor a student, Probigua-America will update you regularly with pictures and videos from the school that they will be attending: Colegio San Pedro.

Colegio San Pedro

As of January 1, 2021, Colegio San Pedro serves as the center of Probigua in Guatemala. Please visit this page regularly for updates and to view the activities that are going on at the school.

What is Probigua-America doing for the school?
  1. Giving scholarships to students to study there.
  2. Helping to equip the expansion (see below)
  3. Planning to introduce an English program and fund a native English speaker to work as the Director of the English Department

What Now?

Right now, our focus is to equip the classrooms of Colegio San Pedro for the school year 2022 (the school year is from January-October in Guatemala). In 2022, Colegio San Pedro will offer Diversificado, which is the highest level of secondary education, similar to a career/vocational track of Junior and Senior year of high school.

NEW ENGLISH DEPARTMENT

We need your help to get the classrooms ready and to implement a new English program at Colegio San Pedro. We are in contact with native English speakers from the United States who are interested in working at Colegio San Pedro.

It costs much less to live in Guatemala in comparison to North America or Europe. For this reason, a small group of people would be able to cover a teacher’s funds for one school year easily.

Please contact Chance Michael Landry at chance.landry@probigua-america.com if you are interested in donating specifically toward Colegio San Pedro.
